Flat screens lcd monitors primarily use three different panel types.
Va display panel.
Most tn panels are incapable of displaying 24 bit true color and instead rely on interpolation to simulate the correct shades.
Compared to ips panels va panels have the advantage of higher possible refresh rates.
Tn ips or va in its different forms.
Va panels are characterized as having the best contrast and image depth among the other main types.
Va panels top out at 200 hz for ultrawide displays however most 16 9 models are limited to 165 hz.
Va panel manufacturers have tried different techniques to improve the viewing angles of their panels over the years with the goal being a perfect lcd panel with wide viewing angles and deep blacks.
As i mentioned above tn panels owe their popularity to low manufacturing costs however they are also known for being able to deliver much higher response rates than ips or va panels.
The choice of panel is very important as it determines whether the monitor is responsive enough.

While they have yet to achieve that goal a few tvs have hit the market that try and combine the best of va and ips panels.
Although most are currently 60hz there are a few that are above 60hz.
Ips panels also top out at 165 hz although a 240 hz 1080p option is in the works by lg.
Va has more advantages over tn panels.
