Vostro Laptop Battery Not Charging

Recently my dell vostro 1400 laptop stopped charging the battery when the a c adapter was plugged in.

I was about to give this laptop to someone and i reformatted the hard drive to clean it up before doing so. While the pc is off charge the battery for a while.
